Still going.......

Yesterday i ran 4 miles on the treadmill at Lifetime! YAY me! i feel good today, not sore at all. I'm going to try for 3 miles tonight and then there's an hour long strength training class that i'm going to.

Food for yesterday:

Breakfast-
Hard boiled egg and banana
Lunch- Fruit (strawberries, kiwi, grapes) and a salad with turkey
Snack- celery
Dinner- granola bar
Then i had a whey strawberry banana smoothie after my workout.

I also had a piece of cake for someone's bday in the afternoon........Hey- no one's perfect.

A new year...... already????

So it's been a while since i posted i see.  I'm going to try to start posting again, more for my own benefit than anyone else's- just a log of progress and how i feel each day.

Sunday- i went to the gym and ran for 2 miles-totally didn't want to go, but i did it anyway and felt better after.  Of course!
Monday- Joined Lifetime Fitness and went and did 40 mins on the eliptical machine- smoked afterwards, didn't feel good about that.  i'm setting a date- Feb 1st.  One week before my birthday.  i think i can handle it--i hope so anyway.
Tuesday- I am going to a 6:15 cycling class, but hopefully i'll get 25 mins on the eliptical first cuz i ate chipotle today and i did not need that.  i feel very full and fat  :(  Ick.  Next time i'll get a bowl, rather than a burrito AND chips and guac.  I didn't need those.

HOT HOT HOT!

Ugh.... I went running last night about 8:30, i swear it was still in the 80's, I went about 2 miles and was dripping with sweat. Also, i'm totally congested, so it was harder than normal. I stopped a couple times to try to cough up a lung..... Anyway today should be better, since i'm running inside at work :) 3-4 miles today, plus i have spinning tonight and i may jump in the pool as well. we'll see.

DUH!

Well, i've been doing good. However, i would like to point out that last Thursday i only needed to swim 400 yards (8 laps) not 700....... but what do you do? I didn't do much on Friday. I swam in a friends pool, but that was for fun. Saturday, I swan 6 laps (300 yards), biked 20 mins and ran 2 miles. Sunday I ran about 5 miles on the Luce Line. There's a cool website a coworker showed me. www.mapmyrun.com it measures for you and gives you distances, seems to be pretty accurate, so now i know how far i'm running, when i'm on the Luce Line, not just guessing. Today I'm biking for 45 mins and my friend may be coming over and we'll probably run 2-3 miles as well. Like i said, i'm doing good.

I'm also doing good at posting!

feelin good

Well, I made it through the day and i accomplished all my goals YIPPEEE!!! I ran 3.5 miles after work, then i went to spinning class (that was just for fun...) and then i swam 700 yards = 14 laps. Tomorrow i need to bike for 45 mins and saturday i have a 4-5 mile run & a swim (i can't remember how far right now) and a 2-3 mile run on sunday. The girls and i are doing a camping thing with church tomorrow (friday) night. And i think we'll be spending a lot of time at the beach this weekend as it is supposed to be soooo hot, yuck :P

Anywho, i have to go make a dessert for camping potluck. Then I'm off to bed. I"m sleepy.

PS. I recorded the mini-marathon of "The Office" tonight. I guess i've been missing out. I did watch one episode at a friends house last weekend and it was pretty funny, so maybe another show, i've been missing out on.... I'm really going to get better at DVR things and trying to keep up, maybe.

Here we go again

I'm REALLY bad at posting this stuff huh? So I've started to follow 2 training programs. One for a marathon and one for a sprint tri. It actually looks like it won't be that hard to do. I run a lot in the sprint tri one, and obviously for the marathon..... so there's only a couple days a week that I'll be overlapping and have 2 things to do, either bike or swim as well. I've been going to a spinning class at safari island most turs/thurs nights and i really enjoy that.

So i'm up to 11 weeks not smoking! YAY for me.

Anyway, to keep this short and sweet. I ran 3 miles yesterday and 2.5 today. Today is a swimming day, but since i work at the golf course tonight, i'll have to do that tomorrow. 700 yards/ 14 laps. Plus tomorrow is run 3-4 miles (which i'll do over lunch) and then I'll go to spinning at night and then swim after that. :)

I'm not sure if i have a specific goal. I wanted to do a marathon this year, and i may still. I decided if i keep up with my program for 1 month, i'm going to sign up for one (in a different city, since TC is full) Or i may just wait and do grandmas next year, but i think i'll feel better if i do one this year. we'll see how it goes.

I'll check in tomorrow! (hopefully)

Time sure flies by........

You knew???? I guess I did, but gosh, it's been a while since I posted in here. Anyway, what's new with me? Not a ton. I've been working on running, 3-4 miles 3 times a week and I've been taking a spinning class once a week. (in the fall, i'll start going twice, but they cut out a class in the summer as people would rather be outside. Today, i'm thinking I really should be going to yoga, or doing it at home cuz I'm very sore. But I see a chiropractor at work once a week and try to get a massage every other week which is good for me. :)

Also I quit smoking!!!!!!!!! Yea me. Easter Sunday was my first, first day of not smoking. I got hypnotized on the 5th, after i'd been on the patch for like a week or so. I tried to smoke twice after i got hypnotized and i felt ill, so i just quit and i'm done. I've been around it and it doesn't bother me, i have no desire to pick one up, so i guess that worked for me. Plus, now i think i'm gonna be rich!

I guess that's it for now. Not a lot to report, next month i'm working on my nutrition.

Holy Cow!

Boy does time fly by......... But fear not, even though i have not posted, i HAVE indeed been working out. I'll go over this week at a glance and hopefully start to get a little more regular with my postings

Monday- NOTHING!
Tuesday- 20 mins walking at 3.5 mph at 7% incline, 20 mins on recumbant bike
Wednesday- 45 mins on elliptical, 60 mins walking the dogs (more of a chore than anything else)
Thursday- 45 min spinning (cycling) class, 30 min dog walk
Friday- 30 min running @5.7 mph, 5 min warm up and cool down.

Next month, I intend to start getting some swimming in as well as longer runs. We'll see how that goes.

OK. I haven't posted in a while....let me remember. Friday we had a 2 mile walk/run here at work, so i participated in that. I'm pretty sure I didn't do anything productive over the weekend :)

Yesterday I did a 3 mile run over lunch. I walked for 20 mins today because i didn't bring my workout clothes since i had a massage scheduled for this afternoon, but that got swithced to Friday...... :( BUMMER! But I have yoga tonight, so i should get 30 mins on the elliptical before that.

So Last night i rode the stationary bike for 35 mins after work, almost 7 miles. 6.95 or something silly like that. I got home and did my upper body workout video and an ab video. I'm home today as Mary is not feeling well, so I just did Yoga Booty Ballet. I REALLY like that series. It's fun and different. So I assume i'm not going to make it to the gym tonight, so i may go for a run outside with Comet, and then I plan to ride my stationary bike at home while I watch 24. I have not seen last monday's episode yet...........And of course, it's thursday, so Grey's Anatomy is on too....... Have a good one everyone.

OH, PS. I'm registering for the Lake Waconia Triathlon that is on June 24th. I'm going to do this with a guy I work with. Wish me luck and strength to keep training for it.

Still going

SO yesterday i rode the regular bike for 25 mins, then I ran 1 mile over lunch. I did 30 mins on the elliptical at the club last night and then went to yoga. (which I'm really starting to get good at :) ) Today I ran 2 miles over lunch, but then I pigged out because we are taste testing food from new vendors for the cafeteria downstairs. And theyk bring ALOT of different choices, but even a little of each is a lot. I did however manage to avoid the mashed potatos (i don't know if it matters at this point, since i had 4 desserts........) So I'm thinking tonight I'll go to the club and either bike or run again. Then do my arm workout at home. Tomorrow, i may try to spin class at the club, so we'll see how that goes.............

Ok. I made it to the gym on Friday night. I biked for 25 mins, did 20 mins on the elliptical and then ran 1 mile. I didn't do anything saturday or sunday.............. It's health week at work this week. Tonight i'm taking a Nia class. I'll let everyone know how that goes tomorrow :)

So last night i did 35 mins on the recumbnet (spelling???) bike which was approx 6.5 miles and then i ran for 25 mins. about 2.5 miles. It felt really good. I ate horribly yesterday though, so i'm going to have to be better today. I'm home today since the girls don't have school. I think we're going to head up to the gym this afternoon and I'll get a workout in and they can swim. As soon as I'm done typing this i'm going to do my arm video and my ab video. I have to say i've done very well this week. Working out everyday

SO I did 20 mins on the elliptical last night before yoga. Today, I did 30 mins on the elliptical and ran 1 mile (12 min mile) Tomorrow I want to try to run further, for 25 mins and then pick up the other 15 on the elliptical. I'm doing pretty good with my eating. Except for yesterday I REALLY wanted a brownie when i went down to lunch and a co-worker said "don't ruin all the hard work you're doing" so i got a granola bar instead. HOWEVER, this is my horoscope for today......

So I'm sure you can guess what i got with my lunch today. That's right. A brownie :) it was the first thing i grabbed :) Oh well, maybe I'll stop by safari island tonight and do another round on the elliptical to burn it off. We'll see.

still going strong

So I did my arm workout video when i got home last night. YEA ME! Today i did 18 mins on the eliptical (13 forward and 5 backward) then i went to run, 22 mins, but my legs were bothering me, so i cut it short at 13, and then did my 5 min cooldown on the treadmill. I have yoga tonight and will probably try to jog around the track a little before class starts. I would like to do my arm video again tonight, since i have a massage tomorrow and she can usually tell me if i'm doing something wrong.

Doing Good

I did really good last week. I ran on monday outside for 2 miles. Tuesday night I did make it to yoga, and I ran about 2 miles before class started, so that was good. Wednesday I ran outside with Comet again and then I just did strength training videos on thurs and saturday.

Today I did the eliptical for 20 mins and ran 20 mins over lunch. I plan to do my arm video tonight as well. So i'm doing pretty well, i just need to stop smoking.......

Keep Movin

I ran 2 miles last night with Comet outside. It felt really good and i had no pain. Today my knees are creaky again, but no pain. I have yoga tonight, and i'm going to try to run 2 miles again. I started eating healthy. I'm eating all the fresh fruit i want. Today it was blackberries, a banana (only half, cuz it was mushy...) and a clementine. I still have 2 clementines in my lunch box, those may be my afternoon snack. I had a cup of oatmeal with raisins, (should have saved my banana for that) and I'm eating yummy brown rice and a salad (romaine of course) with a few tomatoes with lemon juice on it, no dressing. :( I drank tea w/ no caffine instead of coffee and i've had a little cranberry juice and lots of water. I can eat rice cakes or rye crisps (too bad i like those with lots of butter on top, that'll have to go....) and nuts and stuff. I'm not sure what I'm going to eat for dinner yet, but I don't have a ton of optioins. Probably more rice and salad. YUM!

New Year

Ok, I didn't do anything on Friday. Saturday I took the dogs for a 25 min walk, then Sunday it was like an hour. I walked them again last night, but I should have just worn skis, the way Comet pulls me along.... He is STRONG. So i didn't do any running and I probably won't today either, but I will walk the dogs tonight and probably go to yoga tonight as well.

And my healthy eating plan went right out the window over New Year's, but i'm bakc on track today. And as soon as all the candy and cookies are gone from Christmas everything should be smooth sailing :)

Ouch!

I'm not gonna lie, today did not go so well. First of all my legs are creaky and cracky. All of them, ankles, knees, my hips aren't too bad yet, but I can only wait for that. Second, today my shins were killing me, so i worked out for 25 mins, alternating walking for 2-3 mins and jogging (very slowly) for 3-5 mins. Then I did ALOT of streching after. I hope that helps. A co-worker of mine used to be a personal trainer, so i'm going to ask him what to do for my shins. However, I know this always happens when I start running consistently again, and it will go away in a few days, but boy oh boy does it HURT!
Ok, what else is new? A friend of mine, I won't name names quite yet, said she's going to start training too. WE're planning to do our weekend runs together. Next weekend will be the first one and it's 5 miles. It'll be fun to have someone to run with some of the time.
Also, I'm at the chapter in the book that talks about eating properly and all that stuff. I've been trying to eat healthier, and i'm doing OK at it. But there seems to be alot to learn about protien and carbs and everything else. That may take a little while longer. All I know is I've been eating a lot more fruits and veggies and that HAS to be good for me!

2 Days in a Row, I'm on a Roll

Yea me! I took the dogs for about a 40 minute walk last night, so that was good, as well as my run on lunch!

Today, i did 20 mins on the eliptical and 20 mins on the bike. The bike is pretty much broken and dumb, however, it still pedals. There's just no resistance or anything, but it's a start for getting my legs used to biking if i'm going to do a tri this summer.....

So I got a book on training for a marathon/half marathon. I was looking at the schedule and it's really not too bad. They want you running 3 times a week. It looks kinds like this

Monday - rest
Tuesday- short run
wednesday - rest
Thursday - short run
Friday- cross train
Saturday- long run
Sunday - cross train (they recommend a walk)

So anyway, most of the short runs could be done here at work on my lunch break as the most miles you have to run are 5. But they really kick up the weekend long runs. This week, it's 4 miles, next week 5, then down to 3. After that it's like 8, 10 12, 16.... the most you run is 20. Holy cow! i just have to keep saying, " i think i can, i think i can!"
